A little deeper
into Kyoto.
Leave the city and continue a little farther.
The mountains draw closer and the fields open in front of you.
After dark, the landscape slowly settles around you.
Fūzansha stands in this mountain countryside of Ayabe.

The old house
Where the breeze passes,
time remains.
The beams, shoji and old furniture carry marks left little by little through daily life.
We did not restore the house to make everything look new.
Timber polished by touch, gently uneven fittings, and light that shifts through the day—
these are not signs to hide, but part of the house itself.

Staying close to daily life
Stay for a night,
as life is lived here.
Fūzansha is not a standard hotel with every detail arranged in advance.
Drink tea by the window in the morning.
Watch the light move, then let evening arrive in its own time.
Spend a day at the pace of the house and the mountain village,
and ordinary hours become part of the journey.

Life in the mountains
People are not the only ones
who live in the mountains.
As the seasons turn, swallows arrive and leave again.
A cat finds a patch of sunlight on the engawa.
Plants grow at their own pace.
After dark, insects take over the sound of the day.
Those who come here are also only stepping into this life for a short while.
